A leader who prioritizes our community, our children, and their future!

Dear Montebello Unified School District Community,

My name is Elizabeth Cabrera and I am your current Montebello Unified School District Board Member. As a lifelong Bell Gardens resident and a proud product of MUSD schools, I have over 14 years of experience in education working with students, families, teachers, administrators and community members to provide high-quality education for all students. I was elected to the MUSD Board of Education in 2020 and am on the ballot to stay on the seat. I would love to continue working hard to provide what is best for our students.

Education has opened many doors for my family. Although my immigrant parents had no more than a third grade education, they ensured I had a successful career in MUSD from Cesar Chavez Elementary, to Suva Intermediate to my graduation from Bell Gardens High School. Many in my family (siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews) have either gone through MUSD schools or are currently still attending them.

After high school, I attended Harvard University and graduated in 2009, and received my Masters in Urban Education from Loyola Marymount University in 2014. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college.

My career has been dedicated to the field of education as a mentor, tutor, teacher, family engagement specialist, curriculum specialist and nonprofit director.

In my current role, I oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of family engagement programming for underserved communities across the country.  As your Board Member, I have focused on keeping our district financially healthy through the strengthening of protocols and procedures, and I have advocated for transparency. During these last four years, the district has experienced positive changes with the establishment of new programs, improved facilities, and student-centered decisions.

Our school system must prepare all graduates for the careers and higher education required in an ever changing society. In order to make this a reality, as your School Board Member, I will continue to advocate for:

  • Improved Educational Outcomes

  • Quality and Genuine Family Engagement

  • Social-Emotional Learning Support

  • Increased Financial Responsibility

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Cabrera

Let’s work together to do what is best for our students. On November 5th, vote for Elizabeth Cabrera for Montebello Unified School Board.
